PermaTherm's Green Packaging

Permatherm’s environmental commitment is to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - - Making sure all we produce is environmentally responsible.

  • EPS is 100% recyclable!
  • EPS has the lowest Life Cycle impact on the environment compared to any other product for use in packaging and insulation.
  • EPS produces no Greenhouse effect as NO HFC’s, CFC’s HCFC’s or Hydrocarbons are used in production.
  • Very low energy consumption in production.
  • Less total waste than any other landfill received material.
  • EPS Packaging is NOT a major contributor to landfills. (Less than 3%!)
  • EPS Does NOT produce Methane (a greenhouse gas) as does just about everything else when sent to a landfill.
  • EPS Does NOT leech into the ground water as does most other packaging materials.
  • EPS is defined by the environmental "green movement" as a "green building product."
  • EPS is approved by the FDA for food containers after extensive study showing no adverse health effects.
  • Thermal performance does not degrade over time therefore reducing energy costs long term as compared to other materials which degrade.
  • To make one ton of paper (paper, cardboard) takes 36 times more electricity and 12 times more steam compared to 1 ton of EPS!
  • EPS is 98% air!
  • Landfills actually like EPS as it improves aeration and contributes to faster degradation of organic material.
  • Styrene is a naturally occurring substance…found in strawberries, beans, nuts, beer, wine, coffee beans and cinnamon!
  • EPS is inert and innocuous.
  • NO waste in the production as all excess and rejects are recycled. Steam is the main ingredient in making EPS and this is captured and reused many times.
